He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Claude Johnston and Wilkie Lee Johnston; and his siblings, Loualta Laurent, Glenn Johnston, Raeford Johnston, Carol Vick Johnston and Leroy Johnston.
He is survived by: his wife Janice Jones Johnston; his children, Allison Johnston, Eris Dale Johnston (Eydie) and Reid Selby Johnston II (Julie); his grandchildren, Brooke Ester (Mike), Trevor Holtzclaw, Shelby Johnston and Ashlee Johnston; and his sister-in-law Betty Johnston. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
