He was predeceased by: his parents, Elbert Damon Gunther and Susie M. Gunther; and his siblings, Charles, Willard Gunther and Sherry Stollings.
He is survived by: his wife Judi; his children, Damon Gunther of Columbia, MD and Aimee D. Shimizu of Bowie, MD; his children-in-law, Susan Gunther and Jesse Shimizu; and his grandchildren, Aiden, Jenna and Addie Shimizu. He is also survived by Four sisters-in-law and two brothers-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews.
