With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Heyward J. Gainey Sr. (Little River, South Carolina), born in Chesterfield, South Carolina, who passed away on March 11, 2021 at the age of 85. He was predeceased by: his parents, John W. Gainey and Hattie Jean Atkinson Gainey; and his siblings, J. C. Gainey, James L. Gainey, Willie Gainey, Dorothy Curtis, Mary Gulledge and Helen Boan.

He is survived by: his wife Genelia Huffman Gainey; his sons, John Gainey (Terri) and Ronnie Gainey (Donna); his grandchildren, Jonathan Gainey, Nicholas Gainey, Nicholas Dowless, Christy Dowless, Matthew Gainey (Kyndle) and McKenzie Nance (C. J.); and his great grandchildren, Gavin Gainey and Nance.
