He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Alala and Wahida Alala; and his siblings, Basil Alala, Margaret Alala and Mary Dixon.
He is survived by: his wife Jean Alala; his pets, Annie and Charlie; his children, Edward Glenn Alala of Hickory, NC, Chad Alala (Denise) of Cary, NC and Ashley Coble (Steve) of Wilmington, NC; and his siblings, Johnny Alala of Greensboro, George Alala, Myrtle Beach (Marsha) and Madeline Lineberry of McLeansville, NC. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
