He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles F. Zimmerman and Dorothy Zimmerman; and his wife Edith Zimmerman. He is survived by: his children, Sherri Zimmerman Graham, Corinne Zimmerman and Charles E. Zimmerman, Sr. (Gena Zimmerman); his grandchildren, Ashley Holder, Jacob Holder, Taylor Zimmerman (Ethan Meierhoff) and Charles E. Zimmerman, Jr.; his in-laws, Ernie, Joan Oberer, Kirby, Liz Oberer, Carl Oberer and Russ Risden; and his significant other Martha Baker. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the American Cancer Society.
