He is survived by: his wife Patricia Nicholson (Peterson); his son Gerald Nicholson; his sister Sally Sherri; and his grandchildren, Jose Barnhart, Isabelle Wandel, Katie Nicholson and Bradley Nicholson. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.
