He was predeceased by: his parents, Lessie McLamb Hardee and William Ashburn Hardee of Brunswick County; his daughters, Donna Gay Hardee and Regina Hardee-Vereen; and his siblings, Randolph A. Hardee, Wilbur Hardee, Cleople Permenter, Frances Hardee and Virginia Mintz.
He is survived by: his wife Elva Joyce Russ Hardee; his children, Benjy Hardee (Lynda Hardee), Sonya H. Martin (Morgan Martin) and Sherri H. Holloway (Chris Holloway); and his grandchildren, O'Bryan Martin, Hayley Martin, Mandi Reaves (Joe Reaves), Monica Hardee Hamer, Mary Ashley Bellamy (Scott Bellamy), Austin Holloway, Christopher Holloway, Jessie Vereen and Jeremy Vereen. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Living Water Baptist Church, 1569 Hwy 9 East, Longs, SC 29568 and Bethel Primitive Baptist Church, 1010 Hickman Road, Calabash, NC 28467.
