He was predeceased by: his wife Carolyn McCarley; his parents, Eugene McCarley and Desserene Engle Herring; his siblings, Brenda Sue McCarley of Alabama and O'Neal Herring of Easley; and his grandsons, Michael Robinson of Sunset and Terry Evett of Sunset.
He is survived by: his children, Frances Mitchell (Jason) of Sunset, Cindi Sheppard of Pickens, Marie Robinson (Russell Jones) of Liberty, Austin McCarley of Sunset and Dennis McCarley of Sunset; his grandchildren, Ashley Valdivia, Brandon Sheriff, Ari Hendricks, Tamria Phillips, Michelle Mathis, Sasha Hawkins, Alix Fuller, April Robinson, Victoria Kosht and Shana Frick; his stepgrandchildren, Sabrina Gardener and Trenton Jones; and his siblings, Betty Gilstrap, Roger McCarley, Thomas McCarley, Kathy Gilstrap, Cavalene Gilstrap, Dorothy Herring, Wayne Herring and Wade Herring. He is also survived by 25 great-grandchildren.
