It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Michael Douglas Houtchings of Lexington, South Carolina, who passed away on February 18, 2025, at the age of 78, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Annie Belle Allred Houtchings and Leon Brooks Houtchings. He is survived by: his wife Debra T. Houtchings; his children, Marcas Houtchings (Melissa), Chantell Houtchings (Moe), Erin Desso (Rusty), Steven Houtchings (Donna), Julia Houtchings (Sarah) and Eric Houtchings; his grandchildren, Taylor (Hannah), Marco (Christian), Lilli, Hannah, Harper, Sam, Quinn and Ansel; and his sister Paula Dawkins (Junior).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Shives Funeral Home, Trenholm Road Chapel (7600 Trenholm Rd Ext, Columbia, SC 29223). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location. A committal service will be held on Monday, February 24th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery (4170 Percival Rd, Columbia, SC 29229).
In lieu of flowers, the family request that all donations be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105; or to East Columbia Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1213 Hazelwood Rd, Columbia, SC 29209, in loving memory of Mr. Michael D. Houtchings.
