He was predeceased by: his parents, Solomon J. Harris and Ellen Geiger Harris; his former wife Mildred Hayes; his grandson Korey Grant; his siblings, Shirley Harris Smith, Sherrill L. Harris and Vera Geiger Harper; and his aunt Sarah Harris Lytes.
He is survived by: his wife Hermayonne Harris of Columbia, SC; his children, Kandace Grant (Keith) of Charlotte, NC and James Kevin Harris of Charlotte, NC.; his siblings-in-law, Shirley Wise Harris of Lexington, SC and Joesph Harper of Union, SC.; his grandchildren, Kamau Grant of Charlotte, NC and Karisi Grant of New York; his stepchildren, Tori Salvant IV (Gaines H.) and Lydell M. Day of Columbia, SC.; and his stepgrandchildren, Portia T. Cooper (Tony S.) of Lexington, SC, London M. Day of Columbia, SC, Tavares Jackson of Miami, FL, Lydell M. Day Jr. and Gaines H. Salvant V of Columbia, SC.. He is also survived by brother with his cousins, the Lytes family/children, and there are a host of nieces, nephews, cousins.
Viewing was held on Friday, April 11th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the J. H. Robinson Funeral Home Lexington Chapel (701 Hendrix St, Lexington, SC 29072). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, April 12th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the New Bethel AME Church (500 S Lake Dr, Lexington, SC 29072).
