He was predeceased by: his former wife Betty Rosie Wright Sanders; and his in-laws, Edna Burks (Paul), Frances Jones (Danny), Owens Sanders, Dorothy Hydrick (Jack) and Rev. Bill Bishop.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Jean Chaney Sanders; his children, Donna Marie Sanders Shealy (Ricky), Samuel Edward "Sammy" Sanders and Linda Kaye Sanders Berardo (Tony); his stepdaughters, Sheryl Bradley, Melissa Matthews (Henry) and Tiffany Lynn Hall VanBlaricum (Rudy); his grandchildren, Nicole Ruff, Natalie Buff (Scott), Mark Edward Berardo and Hannah Rosie Berardo; his stepgrandchildren, Christopher Matthews and Kristen Matthews; his great grandchildren, Parker Hood, Gage Shealy, Bige Hyatt and Lars Hyatt; his sister Annie Belle Sanders Bishop; his sisters-in-law, Shirley Sanders, Kathy Wilson and Dorothy Wright; and his parents, Charlie Edward Sanders and Quirlie Rose Shannon Sanders. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Convent Baptist Church (787 Convent Church Rd, Leesville, SC 29070). A funeral service was held on Thursday, January 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in George's honor may be made to Convent Baptist Church, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Ronald McDonald House - South Carolina, or the American Cancer Society.
