He is survived by: his wife Sarah Mims Briggs; his children, Charles Briggs, Wendell Mims, Joseph Briggs (Brittany), Jamine Briggs (Wynona) and Melissa Briggs; and his siblings, James Briggs (Betty), Carrie Coleman and Relois Briggs. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren.
