He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Ulus and Lina Gentry Townsend; his former wife Rachel Brown Townsend; his brothers, R. B. Townsend, Forrest Townsend and Eugene "Gene" Townsend; and his brother-in-law Wayne Brown.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Hartline Townsend; his son Mark (Maggie) of Laurens; and his grandson Warren Townsend of Laurens.
