James Putsey Philson Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Putsey Philson of Laurens, South Carolina, who passed away on November 5, 2024 at the age of 87. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Hall Philson and Lorene Blakely Philson; his grandson Yancy Gregory Williams Jr.; and his siblings, Hubie Lee Philson, Edger Hall Philson Jr., Jesse Roy Philson, Woodrow Philson and Janie Maude Mills.
He is survived by: his children, Bernard Anderson, Gerald Anderson (Teola), Leon Anderson (Melissa), Calvin Thompson, Adam Jenkins, Dishi Putman, Bonita Gray (Andrew) and Cherlyn Pitts (Brian); his siblings, R. D. Philson (Sharon), Harvey Philson, Reverend Evelyn Davis, Reverend Carolyn Gibbs (James) and Annie Pearl Ballenger; his nieces, Allegra Mills and La'Halla Garrett; and his nephew Sato Gibbs. He is also survived by twenty-five grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; tree great great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 8th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Sanders-Thompson Mortuary (1235 S Bell St, Clinton, SC 29325). A celebration of life was held on Saturday, November 9th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
