He was predeceased by: his parents, James Davis and Agnes Lollis Davis; and his brother Maxie Davis. He is survived by: his children, James H. "Jimmy" Davis, Jr. (Donna) of Clinton and Terri Ann Woodward of Laurens; his siblings, Rufus D. Davis (Kathie) of Gray Court, Sarah M. Templeton (Leroy) of Gray Court, Bea Poole of Roebuck and Ruby Armstrong of Laurens; and his grandchildren, Jaime Avery of Laurens, Gina Armstrong (Anthony) of Gray Court, Brett Davis (Lisa) of Gray Court and Matt Davis (Sara) of Columbia, MO. He is also survived by seven great grandchildren.
