He was predeceased by: his parents, James A. Byrd, Sr. and Gladys Williams Byrd. He is survived by: his wife Lillie Byrd; his children, James A. Byrd III, Kelvin L. Byrd (LaTonya), Pamela L. Byrd Nipper (Dexter) and Katrina A. Byrd Lowman (Deven); and his siblings, Rev. David Byrd (Mary), Roy Byrd (Debra), Betty Jean Rice, Rose Pryor, Dorothy Byrd (Burnell), Emma Dawkins (Henry) and Rev. Gladys Nance (James). He is also survived by ten grandchildren; and four great grandchildren.
