He was predeceased by: his parents, Bryan Alva and Mattie Anderson Goodwin. He is survived by: his wife Lodene Elmore Goodwin; his son Bryan (Sheila); his granddaughters, Mattie Claire of Powdersville, SC and Millie Kate Goodwin of Powdersville, SC; and his sister Martha G. Wilson of Lynchburg, Virginia. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
