He was predeceased by: his parents, Boyce Thurman and Lollie Mae Traynham Thurman; his wife Joyce Bedgood Thurman; and his children, Teresa Usry and Ricky Thurman.
He is survived by: his daughter Lisa Braswell (Don) of Laurens, SC; and his sister Joyce Gillis of Nickles. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

A burial was held on Friday, November 1st 2024 at the Eastbrook Cemetery (1082 US-80, Swainsboro, GA 30401).
