He was predeceased by: his parents, William "Ralph" Batson and Margaret Ward Batson; his brother Gary Batson; and his grandparents, W. A., Flora Batson, Tolvin and Susie Ward.

He is survived by: his wife Sallie Batson; his daughters, Jessica Rainey (Josh), Margaret Hullett (Thomas) and Sarah Rives Biscotto (Joey); his stepdaughters, Crystal Stine and Shalon Craine (Kenny); his daughter Olivia Johnson (Taylor); and his siblings, David Batson (Jehalia), Danny Batson (Cindy) and Tanya Batson.
