He was predeceased by: his parents, T. B. Poteat and Ellen Bennett Nodine; and his brother Michael "Benny" Poteat. He is survived by: his wife Sharon Edney Poteat; his son Mark Poteat; his brother Wayne Poteat (Helen); his grandchildren, Jacob Poteat, Courtney Dobbins and Brailee Poteat; his great grandchild Madeline Dobbins; and his sister-in-law Brenda Poteat. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:45 PM at the Petty Funeral Home (124 S 562, Landrum, SC 29356). A memorial service was held on Friday, January 17th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Petty Funeral Home Chapel (124 S 562, Landrum, SC 29356).
