He was predeceased by: his mother Wanda Blackwell; and his siblings, Marshall, Ruth and Sheila. He is survived by: his father Junior Darby; his wife Helen Blackwell; his children, Amanda Blackwell, Jessica Mills (Brandon), Dustin Taylor, Brandon Noble, Katie Fredericks (Justin), Jolene Williams (Brandon), Noelle McKaig (Sean) and Gabrielle Searcy (Tyler); and his sisters, Martha Ann Fitch, Patsy Walker (Billy), Brenda Farmer, Teresa Durham (Mitchell) and Margie Moore (Larry). He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
