He was predeceased by: his parents, Marvin Wilson Kersey and Gladys Wright Kersey; his son Michael "Mike" Wayne Kersey; his brother Linson "Troy" Kersey; and his mother-in-law Annie Johnson.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Kersey; his children, Clayton Wayne Kersey (Hollon) of Charleston, SC and Laura Kersey Beckham (Timmy) of Lancaster; his grandchildren, Madeline Kersey, Julianna Kersey, Lowdan Kersey, Holden Kersey, Courtney Beckham and Meghan Beckham; his daughter-in-law Erin Rushing Kersey; and his brother Roger David Kersey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in memory of Wayne to the Antioch Baptist Church Building Fund.
