He was predeceased by: his parents, Yancy Newman Adams and Louise Thomas Adams; his son Thomas Dwayne Adams (Brittany); and his brother Ben Adams. He is survived by: his wife Nancy Adams; his daughter Tammy Adams Medlin (Shawn); his grandchildren, Devan Medlin, Dalton Medlin, Savannah Medlin, Levi Adams, Shelby Medlin and Huck Adams; and his siblings, Buck Adams, Bill Adams (Diana), Howard "Harry" Adams, Jack Adams (Darnell), Becky Kirkley (Kenny), Carol Adams and Cindy Catoe (Jimmy).
