It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Tommy Gray Simmons (Mount Airy, North Carolina), who passed away on February 9, 2025, at the age of 74, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Lissie Harold Simmons and James Monroe Simmons; his wife Katherine Wilkie Simmons; and his siblings, Betty Simmons McHone, Joe Dean Simmons and Roy Lee Simmons.
He is survived by: his children, Elizabeth Gray Simmons of Forest City, NC and James Austin Simmons; his daughter-in-law Yichen Liu; his grandson Austin Max Liu Simmons of Westwood, MA; and his siblings, Julia Simmons Peele (Gray), Ruth Simmons Chilton, Brenda Simmons Atkins (Dwight), Kaye Simmons Love (Sonny), Jimmy (Bud) and Ray Simmons (Barbara). He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Moody Funeral Services (206 W Pine St, Mt Airy, NC 27030). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Sunday, February 23rd 2025 at the Skyline Memory Gardens (432 Old Buck Shoals Rd, Mt Airy, NC 27030).
