He was predeceased by: his parents, Jess Guy Penegar and Virginia Beck Penegar; and his sister Mary Frances Shaw. He is survived by: his wife Helga Penegar; his children, Robert "Bobby" Harris Penegar, Jr. (Donna), Eric Joseph Penegar (Katrina), Rena Penegar Livengood (Steve) and Lisa Penegar Kennington (Danny); his grandchildren, Hanna Livengood, Seth Livengood, Jessica Penegar Usher (Josh), Michelle Penegar Catoe (B. J.), Leah Kennington, Luke Kennington (Jordan), Bailey Penegar and Clay Penegar; his great grandchildren, Ansley Usher, Kailyn Usher, Kinley Usher, Braxton Catoe and Brylie Catoe; and his brother Jess Guy Penegar, Jr..
