He is survived by: his children, Rick Wheaton (Amy) of Marvin, NC and Melissa Vanderbrook of Waxhaw, NC; his brother John Wheaton of Winter Park, FL; and his grandchildren, Drew Vanderbrook, Jake Wheaton, Abby Wheaton and Delaney Wheaton.
