He was predeceased by: his parents, Ward Alexander Starnes and Betty Lou Helms Starnes; his sons, Alex Starnes and Ricky Starnes; and his sister Becky Porter.

He is survived by: his siblings, Lane Starnes of Lancaster, SC and Pam Burgess of Lancaster, SC..
