It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Phebe Carnes of Lancaster, South Carolina, born in Sanford, North Carolina, who passed away on October 4, 2024, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Herndon Tuttle Dew and Cora Smithwick Dew; her husband Jack Ferral Carnes; her children, Jack Ferral Carnes, Jr. and Becky Carnes Sanders (Tim); and her siblings, Bob Dew, Walter Dew, Mary Herndon, Betty Brown, Gladys Story and Marguerite Ormand.
She is survived by: her daughter Anne Carnes Briggs (Spencer); her grandchildren, Kevin Summers (Brittany), Wess Briggs (Chloe Blackmon), Jesse Briggs and Trace Briggs; her great grandchildren, Owen and Aubrey Summers; and her sisters, Mildred Averitt and Tanya Brothers.
