It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Margarita Melendez (Lancaster, South Carolina), born in Los Angeles, California, who passed away on November 3, 2023, at the age of 81, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Frank Miranda and Amparo Labastida Miranda; her husband Ricardo Melendez; her daughter Margarita "Mimi" Melendez; and her sister Patricia Miranda.

She is survived by: her daughter Rebecca Godby (Melendez); her son-in-law Chris Godby of Waxhaw, NC; her son Alex Melendez; her daughter-in-law Lori Melendez of Waxhaw, NC; her grandchildren, Benjamin Godby, William Godby, Timothy, Christian and Jessica Melendez; and her sisters, Julia Miranda and Melinda Gomez (Miranda).

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

“to all what remains of my immediate family, i wish i had known about the passing of my sister in law, whom i practically grew up with in the early years of my youth. i remember as a sixteen year old, who lived with my parents for a year while she waited for my brother to come home from the air force in 1966. i take comfort now in knowing that she is now rejoicing at the Banquet of the Lord with her beloved husband, her daughter, and her family. til we meet again in the afterlife Moggie. RIP. 😥”
