He was predeceased by: his parents, Edna Pardue McAteer and Luther Caldwell McAteer; his sisters, Alma Neal (Hub), Janie Thomas (Frank) and Della McManus (Bill); his brother-in-law Odell Catoe; and his nephews, Tony Neal and Larry Thomas.
He is survived by: his wife Ivy McAteer; and his sister Barbara Catoe. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
