He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Pinkney Strickland and Cannie Lee Hall Strickland; his daughters, Rena S. Hancock Boykin and Wanda S. Mumma; his siblings, Howard Eugene Strickland, Sr., Ruby Lee Johnson, Juanita Richter and Lola Mae Richter; and his granddaughter Marcie Sims.
He is survived by: his children, Jesse Monroe Strickland Jr. (Nancy) and Gail S. Benton (Ronnie) of Lancaster; his stepson Charles "Sonny" Hancock (Denise) of Fort Lawn; his sister Chessie Lee Allen (Fulton) of Lancaster; and his grandchildren, Kelly Deese (Pete), Wesley Benton (Julie), Roxanne Garman (Mark), Greg Mumma (Angie), Jeremy Mumma (Crystal), Ann Boatwright (Roger), Trey Strickland (Lissette), Austin Strickland, Chuck Kirkley and Janna Hancock. He is also survived by great-grandchildren.
