He was predeceased by: his parents, Benjamin Franklin Self and Emily Mahaffey Self; and his siblings, Paul Self, Raymond Self, Bobby Self, Joe Self of Davis Self, J. E, Cecil Albertice Mahaffey, Mildred Boykin and Helen Hayes.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce F. Self of Lancaster; his daughters, Robbie Wright (Ricky) of Lancaster and Michele L. Hover (Lucian) of Dallas, TX; and his sister Warneda "Tootsie" Sims of Myrtle Beach. He is also survived by three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
