He was predeceased by: his parents, James Phillip Burt, Sr. and Edith Griffith Burt; his wife Joann Burt; and his daughter Pamela "Pam" Wentz. He is survived by: his son Kirk Burt (Toni); his son-in-law Roger Wentz; his grandchildren, Maggie Watson, Logan Hedrick, Austin Hicks and Hayden Briggs; his great grandchildren, Jenson, Ryland, Mylah and Wrenley; his siblings, Furman Burt and Laura Berryhill; and his stepsons, Brad Rikard and Kenny Alexander.
In lieu of flowers, for those who wish, memorials may be made to Scout Troop 275.
