He was predeceased by: his parent John Smith; his daughter Julia Maire Smith; and his siblings, John Smith, Henry Smith, Ruth Little and Helen Little.
He is survived by: his parent Kate Smith; his wife Rebecca "Becky" Honeycutt Smith; his daughter Lou Smith Slough (Robert); his grandchildren, Ashley Smith Vaughn, Patrick Smith (Allison), Josh Henderson and Jacob Henderson (Blaire); his great grandchildren, Liza Rebecca Vaughn and Hampton Marie Henderson; and his sister Ann Clark. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First United Methodist Church, Building Fund, 190 E. Franklin Blvd., Gastonia, NC 28052.
