She was predeceased by: her parents, John Sims and Marie Conley Sims; and her siblings, Ernest, Joe Sims, Peggy Sims Stamey and Barbara Sims Hartness.
She is survived by: her husband Allen Steele; her children, Mike Steele (Christy) of Weddington, NC, Gina S. Helms (Britt) of Fort Mill, SC and Jeff Steele (Janina) of Ooltewah, TN; and her grandchildren, Ashley Steele, Katie Steele, Zach Steele (Mia), B. J. Helms, Paul Steele and Thomas Steele. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
