He was predeceased by: his parents, Jadie Buchanon and Wilma Hood Buchanon; his wife Priscilla Buchanon; his son Gavin Bernard Cunningham; and his siblings, Fred T. Buchanon, Jerry McIlwain, Mary Frances Caksey and Bobbie Jean Buchanon.
He is survived by: his children, Annette Buchanon of Lancaster, SC, Kathy McIlwain (Randall) of Lancaster, SC, Maxine Garris (Bobby) of Lancaster, SC, Sheri Cunningham of Detroit, MI, Frank Wayne Buchanon (Mary) of Monroe, NC, Dale Junior Buchanon (Patricia) of Lancaster, SC, Bernard Buchanon (Tammie) of Lancaster, SC and Patrick Cunningham of Detroit, MI; his sisters-in-law, Delores Buchanon and Nicky McIlwain; and his close friends, Tony Watts, Robert Gibson, Rev. Long, Freemon Heath and Melvin Cathcart. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren.
