He was predeceased by: his parent Virgil Boyd Gardner; and his sister Carolyn Polston. He is survived by: his parent Rosa Bell Balkcum Gardner; his wife Geneva H. Gardner of Lancaster; his children, Tim McAteer of Columbia, Sam McAteer (Cheryl) of Lancaster, Tara Sinclair (Louis) of Lancaster and Kim McAteer of Lancaster; his brother Doug Gardner (Judy) of Myrtle Beach; his grandchildren, Breanna Harmon, Corey Sinclair, Tyler Richardson and Jason McAteer; and his great grandchildren, Cara Harmon and Dakota Harmon.
