He was predeceased by: his parents, James Lytal Lucas and Geneva Elizabeth Harrelson; and his brothers, Charles Edward Lucas and James Kenneth Lucas. He is survived by: his wife Frances Broughton Lucas of Lancaster; his children, Jeffrey Lucas (Donna) of Lancaster, Michael Lucas of Lancaster and Debbie Altieri (Alex) of Heath Springs; his grandchildren, Steven Evans, Noah Lucas and Sydney Lucas; and his brothers-in-law, Edward Broughton (Patsy) of Alabama, Cecil Broughton of Lancaster, Ronnie Broughton (Becky) of Lancaster and Wayne Broughton of Lancaster. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
