She was predeceased by: her parents, Mitchell Nivens and Hellen Sexton Nivens. She is survived by: her children, Keith Allen Birdsong (Phyllis) of Ohio, Kelly Hays (Pete) of Waxhaw, NC and Geraldine "Jerrie" Castillo of Texas; and her grandchildren, Ashley Hays (Nick), Peter Hays, Emily Hays and Kaleb Birdsong.
