She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Howell and Elise Howell; her son Thomas "Tommy" Amerson, Jr.; and her sisters, Rebecca Crapse and Patsy Alexander.
She is survived by: her husband Thomas "Tommy" Amerson; her daughter Susan McLeod (Johnny); her grandchildren, John McLeod, III, Christine McLeod, Amanda McLeod and Matthew McLeod; and her siblings, Rev. George Howell (Barbara Ann), Bessie Broach, Martha Gibbs, Bobbie Joye (Carol), Jimmy Howell (Rita), Bettina Buie (Jerald), Leon Howell (Connie), Henry Howell (Jean) and Margaret Kelley (Michael). She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
