She was predeceased by: her husband Rivers Scarborough; her parents, Lila Copeland Carter and Walter L. Carter of Carter's Crossroads; and her siblings, Willie James Carter of Lamar, Earl Carter of Lamar, Wilton Carter of Lamar and Elizabeth Carter Ayers of Florence.

She is survived by: her sister Virginia Carter Fitzgerald.
