He was predeceased by: his sister Cary Burton. He is survived by: his wife Katherine Echenique; his daughters, Katina Echenique (Ray Meyers), Marissa Watson (Patrick) and Lauren Syfert (Luke); his grandchildren, Brianna Heupel, Dalton Worsham, Chloe Syfert, Josalin Syfert and Noah Watson; his sister Maria Bushman (Denny); and also Julie Deyo.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the MUSC Children's Miracle Network.
