He was predeceased by: his father John Burns; and his stepmother Alice Burns. He is survived by: his mother Sylvia Gaskins Allen; his wife Renea Hall Burns; his children, Kristy (Jared Varitek), Amanda "Mandy" (Erick Baker), Laura Burns (Mark Barbarulo), Ryan Burns of Johnson City, TN and Steven Burns of Johnson City, TN; his grandchildren, Madi Johnson, Annabelle Baker, Hartley Varitek, Harper Varitek, Lakelyn Burns, Briella Barbarulo, Tucker Burns and Mossimo Barbarulo; his stepfather James Allen of Johnson City, TN; his siblings, Marilyn Conklin and Tim; and his sister-in-law Wendy Burns. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
