He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Turner Tomlinson and Lanette Griffin Tomlinson; his wife Barbara Lifrage Tomlinson (S. Army); and his siblings, Peggy Tomlinson McGill, Joel Tomlinson and Kenny Tomlinson.
He is survived by: his children, Samuel Turner Tomlinson II (Anne) of Columbia, David James Tomlinson (Susan) of Greeleyville, John Russell Tomlinson (Jane) of Irmo, Jonathan Eric Tomlinson (Alice) of Kingstree and Mayme Tomlinson Carsten (Will) of Cades; his grandchildren, Dr. Sam J Tomlinson III, Elizabeth Fink (Bryan), Jason Tomlinson (Francine), Dr. Lauren Tomlinson, Stacey Tomlinson, Dr. Jennifer Allen (Michael), Russ Tomlinson (Becca), Jake Tomlinson (Ashley), Addie Lowe, Rebecca Rome (Erik), Sheila Lee (TJ), Joy Strong (Jared), Kate Carsten and Allen Carsten; and his great grandchildren, Sammy Tomlinson, Hudson Fink, Blakely Fink, Jordan Tomlinson, Olivia Allen, Bennett Allen, Wesley Allen, Everett Tomlinson, Sutton Tomlinson, Salters Tomlinson, Hannah Lowe, Neville Rome, Sybil Rome and Mack Lee.
