He was predeceased by: his parents, Edgar Mahan Cheely and Cathlyn Criscillis Cheely of Indiana, PA; and his grandparents, Beulan Ethlebert Cheely, Doris Mahan Cheely of Knoxville, TN, Crystal River, George Criscillis and Margaret Franklin Criscillis of Williamsburg, KY..
He is survived by: his wife Mary Lynn McWhorter Cheely; his children, Edgar Mahan Cheely III (Cat Utah) of Captain Cook, HI and Catherine Cheely Bradley (Ryan); his grandchildren, Blair Mahan Bradley of Mt Pleasant, SC. and Colin Christopher Bradley of Mt Pleasant, SC.; and his siblings, Dr. George Rayburn Cheely (Jean) of Apex, NC and Carole Cheely Johnson of Minneapolis. He is also survived by 2 nieces and 1 nephew.
