He is survived by: his daughters, Karen P. Coates (Eddie) of Kershaw, S. C. and Susan P. Borgersrode (Chris) of Kershaw, S. C.; his grandchildren, Lance Coates, Joseph Coates (Mindy), Jessica Faulkenberry (Daniel) and Christen Borgersrode; his great grandchildren, Grant, Ella, Aubrey, Makenzie, Wesley and Emmitt; his wife Carol Russell Phillips; his sister Catherine Blackmon (Calvin); and his sisters-in-law, Frankie Phillips and Myrtis Russell.
