He was predeceased by: his parents, Ralph Thurston Ussery and Mary Elizabeth Haile Ussery; his wife Patsy Lee Ussery; and his sisters, Jennie Lind Ussery and Mary Leigh Cicotello.
He is survived by: his son John Thurston Ussery, Sr.; his stepchildren, Lynda Lee Mazzone, Andrew David Newton, John Leonard Newton and James Cameron Newton; and his siblings, James Pruitt Ussery, Luanne Ussery, Rondall Thurston Ussery, Martha Ussery, Charles Mumford Ussery, Barbara Ussery Ogburn and Donna Ussery Sawyer. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
