He was predeceased by: his wife Mary Jo Burgess Carter; his brother Kenneth Carter; and his great grandchild C. J. Escalante. He is survived by: his children, LaRhonda Carter Mazereeuw (Pieter) of British Columbia, Canada, Melinda Carter of Union, Vance and Maria Carter of Spartanburg.
