He was predeceased by: his parents, Willie David Powell and Elizabeth Bernice Poston Powell; his grandparents, W. A. "Razz" Powell, Jessie Stone Powell, F. H. "Buck" Poston and Lizzie Leola McElveen Poston; and his great-nephew Spencer David Tanner.
He is survived by: his daughters, Margo Bennett of Lake City and Brandy Powell of Pamplico; his grandchildren, David Swaá Powell, Dayton Skylar Bennett, Damon Elliott Bennett, Conner Reid Bennett and Selen Leigh Powell; his sisters, Nancy Turner (Fred) of Effingham and Thelma Matthews (Stanley) of Pamplico; his niece Belinda; and his child Pearl.
