She was predeceased by: her parents, Daisy Lemacks Nettles and Joseph Nettles; her son Ronald "Dute" Garvin; and her sisters, Elise Cumbee (Edward) and Marie Cumbee (James). She is also survived by six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
